Hyperbole--

Torri. 20. FL. Im just a girl with a zazzy personality, a sharp wit,and a sundress collection. Owls and tacos are in my interests. Oh and dinosaurs.

My grandfather thought ways of engaging me would to start a political conversation on the wrongness of homosexuality and my support of Obama. To be honest, I am pretty apathetic on the topic of Obama. I am not so apathetic on the topic of gay rights, and yet I still told him that I respected his opinion and that neither of us would convince the either otherwise so we should drop it.

Following that he moved on to how health care is wrong, he wasn’t a big fan of me pointing out that not everyone is extremely fortunate enough to never have to worry about such things. Apparently other peoples’ welfare is not his problem, which I find interesting from such a “devout” Christian such as himself. At which point he called me an ignorant child… which I pointed out that insulting my character does not support his argument, in fact that it could be consider fallacious ad hominem. I then perhaps a little emphatically suggested that his rudeness and lack of empathy was why he didn’t have an actual relationship with any of his grandchildren nonetheless his real children…

After several more insults and a minute of awkward silence he apologized and tried his argument again. All in all it was a very positive day with my grandfather because he was only half drunk and I didn’t cry.
